TOMMO AND HAWK

Courtenay is one of Australia’s biggest authors. In this 1800s epic about Tommo and Hawk, sons of a prostitute, he recreates his country’s past, including its horrors and glories. The twins are kidnapped and suffer unspeakable violence, with one remaining optimistic and ambitious and the other becoming an alcoholic opium smoker. Narrator Bower captures each character, making listeners forget that one majestic voice creates the various natives, the Irish, the English, and people of all ages.
