Several years ago, Kershaw posted a blog describing eight mysteries in which the murderer succeeds in committing the perfect unsolvable crime. Now an FBI agent approaches Kershaw with that list because she believes someone is imitating those murders in real life. Halstead effectively differentiates the characters, male and female, drunk and sober, and matches his tone and pace to the unfolding story.
