GOAT A Memoir

The directionless life of the author takes a dangerous downward spiral after he's beaten and robbed while giving two men a ride home from a party. Brad's physical recovery from the attack progresses well, but his psychological healing stalls when he tries to join a fraternity. Young people may relate to this book as true to life, but oldsters like me may find the story tedious and repetitive. Why didn't someone get this kid a social worker? Narrator Nick Landrum does what he can with the aimless dialogue and lifeless narrative. The story of a junior in college doesn't have to sound like a junior in college wrote it. R.O.
