DOUBLE OR NOTHING

Audio movies combine narration, dialogue, music and sound effects. Here the emphasis is clearly on the latter. In fact, the plot may have been dreamed up to justify as many varieties of sound as possible. Star-crossed lovers (sighs, moans) are separated by murder (shots) and a car crash (squealing brakes, etc.) only to be reunited years later quashing a suspect land deal (axes chopping, horses clopping). Though the almost continuous noise can be distracting, it does keep pace with the action. The results will remind some listeners of radio in the days of "Gangbusters."
