THE WITCH WHO WAS AFRAID OF WITCHES

by | Read by Ruth Ann Phimister

Children Ages 4-6 • 45 min. • Unabridged • © 1978

Wendy is a young witch who is insecure about her magical talents. On Halloween, she joins forces with trick-or-treater Roger and discovers she does have witch magic, after all. Ruth Ann Phimister reads this chapter book; Phimister takes care to distinguish her characters, and both Wendy and Roger seem well imagined. However, if one is listening without the book, her narration may strike one as a bit too ponderous, with too much space between words. No doubt this pace was chosen with new readers, who are following along with the book, in mind, but for a child who is listening without the text this approach detracts from the performance.
