With this prequel to Masson's previous title, listeners take a deeper dive into the origins of the Rebel Branch's revolution against the Alchemists' Council. Narrator Sharon Taylor conveys multiple characters while shifting between two opposing factions. She flawlessly takes listeners through a challenging story traversing hundreds of years and multiple dimensions. Especially skillful are Taylor's portrayals of Melia's anxiety over being objectified and Dracaen's shift from passionate to tyrannical.
