Katherine Littrell's performance saves this from being just another chick-lit novel. Littrell's ease with voices and most accents combined with her upbeat manner gives this fairy-tale romance some needed gravitas. Can a country girl (with secrets) from a sheep farm in Australia find happiness as Christian Dior's #1 mannequin? The predictable plot is easily swallowed with Littrell's spot-on characterizations and the listener's willingness to suspend disbelief. Grace marries her brutish childhood sweetheart but finds marriage unbearable. After she models in a local show, the Dior staff invite her to be one of his mannequins. She leaves hubby and heads for the City of Lights, where life opens up in surprising and exciting ways. Thanks to Littrell, this novel is best listened to.
