This collection of seven short stories has as its unifying theme women stepping out of line and becoming empowered to set their own course in life. Featuring prominent contemporary authors and a host of professional actors and performers as narrators, the collection is an intriguing exploration of female agency. Kristen Bell, who delivers Cheryl Strayed's and Caroline Kepnes's stories, is the standout narrator of this collection with her clear, emotive, feminine narration. Listeners might also recognize the voice of Samira Wiley, from television's "The Handmaid's Tale," as she thoughtfully narrates Roxane Gay and Emma Donoghue's dystopian tales about societal inducements toward or away from motherhood.
