You don't have to be a grandparent to enjoy this brief but compelling compendium of wisdom on grandparenting. Author/narrator Paula Span completely engages listeners with her heartfelt, often very funny account of becoming a first-time grandparent. With her warm, friendly delivery, Span expresses her delight at her daughter's pregnancy, her attempts to control herself from being too overbearing, her quandary about what to be called (she discovers that there are over 200 names people call their grandmothers), her learning curve when the baby is born, and a list of dos and don'ts for new grandparents. She explains why singing to babies is so important and offers the newest research on child safety, particularly the changing thinking about sleep positions, cribs, and car seats.
