SONGS FOR THE FLAMES Stories

This collection of nine short stories by Juan Gabriel Vasquez shares themes of politics, violence, drug trafficking, and trauma--all elements that characterize contemporary Colombian history. The narration is shared by Sheldon Romero and Alfredo Huereca, whose performances are well paced and feature appropriate Spanish-language pronunciation that reflects the setting. While Romero's accent is North American, Huereca's delivery is characterized by a slight Spanish accent that gives further ambiance to these South American stories.
