JIMMY DEAN'S LAST DANCE

Johnny Heller leads an ensemble cast in narrating this outstanding 1960s whodunit. The coroner says Marilyn Monroe committed suicide, but she haunts her friend Jimmy Dean, a bit actor, until he agrees to investigate who killed her. Heller portrays a complex Jimmy Dean and a dead-on Elvis Presley, a truck driver with attitude who helps Jimmy investigate. The marvel of the whole cast's presentation is managing the shot-gun plot--controlling its twists and turns and burning vivid characters into listeners' imaginations. For example, Priscilla Presley is an NSA operative. A Mafia don wants JFK dead because he's mad his casinos were closed in Cuba.
