Listeners are taken back to early-twentieth-century France, when retired "gentleman thief" Arsène Lupin finds himself being framed for a murder in a Paris hotel. His investigation initiates a series of complex circumstances that require all of his ingenuity, improvisational skills, and courage as he pits his wits against an unknown enemy. B.J. Harrison narrates the story with gusto. He gives each member of the wide cast of characters a unique persona through the clever use of accents, which helps listeners follow the plot, with its various twists and turns. In addition, his authentic-sounding pronunciation of names and places helps to conjure a vision of pre-WWI Europe. The result is a delightfully intriguing listen.
