WOMAN, EATING A Literary Vampire Novel

This audiobook is a literary novel, not the usual vampire genre experience. Narrator Jane Lui smoothly moves between characters and the setting of the coming-of-age story. In a dark and sultry tone, she describes Lydia and the various people she crosses paths with in London while navigating her part-human, part-vampire body. Yet Lui also sounds as if Lydia is sharing one long dream of fighting her blood-feeding urges. She is so hungry for more than food. She wants love, family, and community, but she can't have these experiences in the same ways that humans do. This struggle is conveyed consistently in Lui's voice.
