Narrator Antonia Beamish transports listeners to the south of England, where newly transferred Detective Maddie Ives investigates a missing person report that turns out to be so much more. As her investigation intersects that of DI Harry Blaker, it soon becomes apparent that there's a sadistic killer on the loose. Beamish's narration is spot-on as she portrays a believable and likable lead character in Maddie, whose passion for the job is palpable, as is her frustration when she believes she is being overlooked. Beamish's talent as a narrator also shines in her characterizations of male characters, including the gruff and world-weary DI Blaker. Her timing helps build the tension in this engaging listen.
