HARD KILL

Hard science fiction will always give a workout to a narrator. This audiobook, packed with humans, cyborgs, and transhumanists, is an exciting example of that. Michael Kramer has plenty to juggle in this battle between humans, led by the Henry family, and cyborgs, led by the transhumanist royals of Eris. These rulers keep transferring their consciousnesses to new bodies and have secretly implemented "hard-kill" measures to wipe out the Fleshie (non-transhumanist) population. Kramer deftly handles the assorted accents of the centuries-old leadership cabal banished from Earth, as well as the more neutral dialects of the Eridians. His distinctively voiced characters help to keep the action moving. Thanks to Kramer's skilled efforts, what results is a memorable David-and-Goliath tale.
