Narrator Jacquie Brennan transports listeners to the Australian Outback with her easy-to-listen-to accent in this debut crime novel. Mina McCreery, still suffering from the disappearance of her twin sister years ago, is confronted by Lane Holland, a P.I. specializing in cold case investigations of missing girls. Everyone's secrets are slowly revealed as Holland digs into the past. Then, Holland is drawn into finding a second missing girl who disappeared around the same time. The two stories come together in a twisted fashion in the dramatic ending. Brennan masterfully differentiates the main and secondary characters, male and female. While listeners may find it confusing when the plot is interrupted by Brennan's readings of posts in an Internet crime forum, they will have a compelling listening experience overall.
