THE BANNED BOOKSHOP OF MAGGIE BANKS

Imani Jade Powers narrates a charming story about the power of books. Maggie Banks comes to Bell River to help her best friend during her maternity leave but ends up changing the town forever. Powers is a delight as Maggie, taking impish delight in Maggie's tendency to blurt out wildly inappropriate things for a laugh or to fill a silence. She also captures Maggie's vulnerable side, such as when she worries about being a failure for not having a defined career path. While secondary characters are not always fully fleshed out, they are always easily distinguishable, the most memorable being grumpy upstairs neighbor Vernon. A delightful performance by Powers.
