Narrators Deepti Gupta, Soneela Nankani, and Anita Kalathara come together to represent three generations of the Desai clan. Gupta is the taboo-breaking Bindu, the feminist grandmother and mother-in-law every South Asian woman longs for. Nankani evokes sympathy for the overworked and frustrated Aly, who is beloved by her mother-in-law because of their shared Goan roots, despite Aly's having divorced her son.
