UNNATURAL CREATURES A Novel of the Frankenstein Women

Barrie Kreinik narrates this reimagining of Mary Shelly's classic novel FRANKENSTEIN. Set in the late eighteenth century, when revolutions are rife in Europe, the story is told through three women in Victor's Frankenstein's life. Kreinik develops a strong persona for his mother, Caroline, who is devoted to her son, the rest of her family, and the less fortunate. One such unfortunate is Elizabeth, who is rescued from poverty and destined to be Victor's wife. Kreinik paints her as a warm and caring person. Another character rescued as a girl is the servant Justine, who is set on a collision course with Frankenstein's monster. Kreinik's voices for men are natural and distinctive, and she handles French phrases smoothly. Kreinik tells a compelling story with sympathy and just the right touch of horror. J.E.M.
