Aimee Lilly's narration is ideally suited to a story structured around six different points of view. Each character offers their perspective on the theft of the Marchioness of Castlecourt's diamonds in early-1900s London. Lilly clearly delineates each character and cleverly delivers a variety of accents ranging from received English to broad rural brogues and generic American. Her delivery is just right for the characters' wry observations on early-twentieth-century British society, making clear this mystery is also partly a comedy of manners. Lilly's strong narration and the story's unusual structure highlight a thoroughly enjoyable listen. K.J.P. © AudioFile 2023, Portland, Maine [Published: FEBRUARY 2023]
