ON THE SAVAGE SIDE

Catherine Taber performs this literary crime novel based on the disappearances of several women in Chillicothe, Ohio. Arc and her twin sister, Daffy, are growing up with their mother and aunt, who are sex workers who bring their johns home. Later, as adults, the twins navigate their own experiences with sex work and drug addiction, always remaining hopeful that they will find better lives. Taber captures Arc's point of view, using tone to evoke her innocence. Throughout the audiobook, Taber's performance creates emotional intimacy between the narrator and the listener.
