THE ESSENTIAL WORD ON THE STREET

British actor Lacey has turned his retelling of the Bible into a performance. Lacey, who is cancer survivor, treats the Scripture as a seamless story that carries listeners from Creation to Exodus to Kingdom to Exile to Christ to the Early Church through Revelation and New Jerusalem. His is a blunt and sometimes gritty retelling of the Bible, which he performs splendidly. A skilled storyteller, he is energetic and expressive. The musical interludes, songs, and accompaniment are a fine complement to the story. That this production is an Audie Finalist is NO surprise.
