Proselytizing is woven into this novel of suspense, which examines beliefs about life, death, reincarnation, heaven, and hell. Although David Kauffman is an agnostic, he takes comfort from reassurances that his daughter had found God before her suicide. Then his investigation into her death uncovers the complex plot in which she unwittingly found herself. Bill Myers gives an earnest and animated narration with the intensity of a true believer. Reverberation is used to generally good effect for the readings from the daughter’s diary and other encounters with the spirit world.
