There are several good things about this latest Hank Thompson adventure. First, it's the second in a trilogy, with more to come. Second, it showcases Christian Conn's tongue-in-cheek narration. Third, there's the story itself. Having escaped from California and a bloody war between bad cops and the Russian mafia--all because he agreed to babysit a cat--Hank and the cat head to Mexico with $4.5 million in cash. This is just the beginning of his problems. Conn first characterizes Hank as a relatively simple soul, but as the action unfolds, you realize there is much more to him. A minor criticism, Conn pauses too long between scenes. A.L.H. © AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 07]
