No pains have been spared to make this story of Batman's fall, replacement (by a more brutal hero, Azrael), and come-back fast-moving, non-stop, and loud. The sound quality is excellent, music and sound effects professional, acting well-done, if uniformly over the top. At times, voices are secondary to sound effects, and one strains to hear them. At other times, it's hard to keep track of the characters. The aural presentation of violent action is not exciting--basically thuds and grunts with commentary--and the story, full of costumed characters, exemplifies why people say "comic book" with disdain. Too brutal for actual 12-year-olds, this program is for mental 12-year-olds of all ages. W.M. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: APR/ MAY 06]
