This audio play is drawn from letters written over several years between Major Warren Lewis, brother of C.S. Lewis, and Blanche Biggs, a missionary in Papua New Guinea. Their story is brought to life by two stellar narrators, Simon Vance and Anne Flosnik. Vance sets the scene, interjecting stage directions when appropriate as a deep friendship develops between the correspondents. Vance uses pacing and nuance to show Lewis's growing admiration and affection for Blanche. Anne Flosnik, as Blanche, has an accent and a formal tone that softens as the friendship grows through wide-ranging conversations. The listener is the lucky eavesdropper as two former strangers living in different worlds become close friends through the power of the written word.
