ANAïS NIN HERSELF

by | Read by Anaïs Nin

Biography & Memoir • 1.66 hrs. • Audio Program • ©

Nin (1903-1977) is the obscure writer manqué who slept her way through Parisian literary society between the wars. Publication of her diaries, with their revelation of her ménage à trois with Henry (TROPIC OF CANCER) and June Miller, made her famous. This is a recording she made in the late 1960's of various passages of her diaries. Gracefully written--and gracefully recited in lightly accented bird-like tones--these tapes display her self-dramatization and sententious philosophizing, as well as her slender authorly gifts. More importantly, they present an eyewitness account of a time, place, persons and mindset of considerable historical and artistic significance.
