AMPHIBIOUS SOUL Finding the Wild in a Tame World

Craig Foster narrates his lyrical meditation on our human connection with the wild in a gentle voice that reflects the limpid ocean from which life evolved. The documentary photographer and producer of many films, including MY OCTOPUS TEACHER, has written a mix of memoir and personable treatise on nature and our place in it. While he sometimes pauses unexpectedly mid-sentence, that's a small quibble amid a generally enticing performance. Foster, who advocates for the importance of rediscovering our individual connection with the wild, includes many personal adventures: tracking game for days with African hunter-gatherers, year-round ocean swimming in icy water, and close, peaceful interactions with wild creatures.
