WHALE SEASON

by | Read by Marc Cashman

Fiction • 7.25 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2006

This has to be one of the breeziest books ever written, and, unfortunately, like a breeze, its pleasure is fleeting. In sum, a man who calls himself Jesus alights upon a backwater Florida town, and, surprise, miracles (seemingly) begin to occur. Marc Cashman has the unenviable task of narrating this tangled mess, and he rises above the material. He has a pleasant, rich tone that captures the whimsical mood of the book, and his characterizations are subtle yet well defined. While Cashman doesn't have a wide range of voices, he does have enough to keep the story moving, and his diction is crystal clear. Fans of the author will probably enjoy this book.
