FAMOUS PREMIERES

This varied collection of 20 radio programs dating from 1937 to 1958 includes first appearances of shows, of actors on shows (including such stars as Burt Lancaster and Jimmy Stewart), and of characters on shows (for example, Lois Lane in "Superman"). The premieres of such well-known series as "Our Miss Brooks" and "The Life of Riley" are included. Reproduction is for the most part flawless. The genres--comedy, drama, variety, Westerns--run the gamut of radio, from hokey to amusing to absorbing. Fans will find something to like in most of the programs in this rich gathering, a fine representation of radio's heyday. An illustrated booklet provides interesting background material.
