The scratchy, distorted sound provides a "you-are-there" sensation. The jacket liner lists the occasion of the speech--whether inaugural address, fireside chat or VE Day announcement. Additional commentary or context could have been added, especially for cassette-listening, because selecting segments is imprecise and difficult.
