I'LL BE GONE FOR CHRISTMAS

Angel Pean narrates the chapters of San Francisco-based tech writer Bee Tyler, and Karen Malina White portrays Ohio farmer Clover Mills. Together, the narrators present a Christmastime romance that revolves around a house swap. In a story reminiscent of the movie THE HOLIDAY, two Black women are burned out and need a break. Clover finds queer friends and romance with Bee's sister, while Bee finds cozy small-town families and the start of something with Clover's ex-fiancé. Pean delivers a strong performance with a smooth narrative and vibrant dialogue. White is less successful with a more muffled microphone and a hesitant approach but prevails with character voices.
