Stephanie Németh-Parker and William DeMeritt work together beautifully to narrate this exquisitely crafted and stirring family story. Forty-ish auto mechanic Kyle returns home to small-town New York to care for his father, Danny, who has had a stroke. He quickly runs into his ex-wife, Casey, who lives across the street. Casey has been helping Danny since Kyle left town after he and Casey divorced following a family tragedy. Casey, a teacher who also helps her school's hockey team with administrative tasks, recruits former hockey star Kyle to coach the beleaguered team. In alternating chapters, Németh-Parker and DeMeritt seamlessly shift back and forth, slowly revealing Casey and Kyle's apprehensions as they reevaluate their feelings for each other. A moving and beautifully rendered story of forgiveness and redemption. M.J. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: JANUARY 2025]
