Typical childhood dilemmas-- moving, new friends and proving oneself--are dealt with in this well-read tale produced in the no-frills style of Chivers. Although Mitchley makes a good attempt at it, the various child characters are often difficult to distinguish. For this reason, the story is not a natural for audio. With some research the real tune to "The Prune Song," which plays a critical role in the plot, could have been used. Instead, the tune is made up. Admittedly this is a small point, but details like this make the difference between a good and an excellent production. A.M. ©AudioFile, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 95]
