FALLS TO PIECES

This audio thriller set in the remote Maui town of Hana is brimming with psychological suspense. Kati, steadily voiced by Cynthia Farrell, is living off-the-grid in the jungle with her teenage daughter, Zoe, who is portrayed by Ellen Quay with skillful nuances that reflect the uprooted teen's sense of isolation and resentment. The reason that the duo is in hiding is revealed as Kati investigates her fiancé's perplexing disappearance on a familiar hiking trail. Employing two narrators to voice Zoe and Kati works especially well because the mother-daughter relationship is central to the mystery. When Zoe also goes missing, Kati ticks through the possible perpetrators: Is it her abusive ex-husband, greedy developers, or an unknown threat?
