Narrators Kristen Sieh and Daru Oda serve up a darkly humorous, twisty ride in this debut. Evie Gordon is an SAT tutor for wealthy kids in L.A. When she discovers the murdered family of one of her students, along with an unknown woman named Jae who is still alive, she and Jae become the prime murder suspects and go on the run. Sieh, who voices Evie, handles most of the narration as the story unfolds like a suspenseful true-crime story. Sieh effectively conveys Evie's cynical attitude and increasing stress while being hunted by the authorities and the media. Oda channels Jae's broodiness.
