COUNTERATTACKS AT THIRTY

Narrator Jo Yuan gives an animated performance in this witty literary translation about South Korean corporate office life. Kim Jihye is a 30-year-old intern at Diamant Academy, an adult education company. Originally hoping to be hired as a permanent employee, she comes to realize that this is likely never going to happen. Instead, another intern, Lee Gyuok, is brought on. Together, they form a small group with two other co-workers to engage in small acts of rebellion against injustices through relatively harmless pranks. As the story progresses, Jihye grows increasingly assertive, a trait that is captured by Yuan's intensifying narration.
