Narrators Hillary Huber and Allyson Ryan deliver captivating performances of Bartz's second novel. Thea, a social worker, is certain she knows the patient who has been brought to her unit. And the patient, Catherine, has a resemblance to Thea. When Catherine leaves the unit, she leaves behind clues for Thea, which lead Thea to a retreat center in New Mexico. As Thea investigates, her unease grows as more connections to her past appear. Huber provides the main narration as Thea. Her handling of multiple characters and multiple accents is excellent. Ryan takes a memorable turn as Catherine. Huber and Ryan's voices are similar in tone and pace, making the illusion of Catherine and Thea's resemblance that much more believable in this slow-burn thriller.
