This series of essays by Tess Sanchez, actor Max Greenfield's wife, is intended to be humorous, but her nasal-tinged, if well-enunciated, narration doesn't mask the privileged tone of its not very relatable personal stories. Greenfield, who wrote and narrates the foreword, offers a more professional audio performance. Sanchez's writing about her life as a casting director who lost her job during Covid is sincere, truthful, and contemporary--the sort of contemporary that has a liberal peppering of street language, the inability to stray far from social media references, and the habit of continually referring to the Golden State as "Cali." While we learn of her life after being fired, she's vague about what's next. This audiobook never offers a reason why one should be interested.
