This account of the occupation of a portion of the Netherlands during WWII--and how the Dutch commemorate those who resisted and those who liberated them--is given a splendid narration by Golden Voice Dion Graham. Edsel, who also wrote THE MONUMENTS MEN, looks at the lives of 12 individuals who all were connected with the events of 1940-45 in this small corner of Europe. It also looks at how we remember such momentous events and attempt to keep alive the memories of those who sacrificed so much. Graham has an especially winsome voice and is near perfect in all aspects of his narration; pacing, inflection, pronunciation, and expression are all spot-on. Edsel delivers the short epilogue and does a creditable job. M.T.F. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: AUGUST 2025]
