WHAT HAPPENS IN AMSTERDAM

Elizabeth Lamont's lively performance transports listeners to the Netherlands in this second-chance romance, which also includes a marriage of convenience. When a workplace relationship goes south, American Dani loses both her job and her boyfriend, and impulsively takes a new position in Amsterdam. There she runs into Wouter, her first love, who lived with Dani's family as an exchange student a decade earlier. Lamont's narration is a treat, especially when she speaks the Dutch dialogue that is sprinkled throughout the audiobook. Lamont captures both characters' vulnerability and masterfully ratchets up the tension when Dani and Wouter decide to marry so that she can stay in the country legally.
