THE REMARKABLE 20TH CENTURY 1960s-1990s

by | Read by Stefan Rudnicki

History • 3.75 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2006

[Editor's Note: This is a combined review with THE REMARKABLE 20TH CENTURY: 1930s-1950s.]--These two sets are best described as "history lite" since they do not delve deeply into any topics but merely lay out a timeline of one decade per CD. They sound like the soundtracks of a low-budget cable TV series. They might serve as a good starting point for someone wishing to learn the key news events of a decade, but they're not a history lesson by any academic definition. Production values are on par with a cable channel series, but there is audible distortion in the voice-over on several discs. A collector of sounds may appreciate the numerous sound bites. True students of history may wish to spend their time listening to something more in-depth. T.F. © AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine [Published: DEC 06/ JAN 07]
