The tumultuous life of Juliane of Saxe-Coburg is given a solid narration by Jennifer M. Dixon. Julie, who was an aunt of both Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, became Grand Duchess Anna Fedorova of Russia when she married Grand Duke Constantine, brother of the future Tsar Alexander I. It was not a happy union, and she eventually abandoned him and fled back to Western Europe. Listeners are treated to many details of court life in Russia under Catherine the Great and Paul I. Dixon has a likable matronly British accent that is clear and moves at an easy-to-follow pace.
