A TOWN WITH HALF THE LIGHTS ON

by | Read by Hillary Huber

Fiction • 8.5 hrs. • Unabridged • © 2025

This audiobook is a contemporary take on the classic epistolary novel. Hillary Huber narrates the story of two transplanted chefs from New York who end up in the hick town of Goodnight, Kansas, after a business disaster. Besides dealing with culture shock, the Solvang family ends up confronting a polluting tire company, the town's major employer. The novel is told through a series of emails, which Huber delivers with such expertise that the personality of each character, whether a local or a New Yorker, comes through. Listeners will find these oddballs compelling. Although the repetition of email addresses is tedious, it's worth listening to this story of community, friendship, good food, and personal integrity.
