When a girl and her father move from one apartment to another, she becomes homesick and is overcome with emotion. This production of Stead's first picture book is performed by Stephanie Richardson. As the daughter tells her story, Richardson's choice of a high pitch for the girl results in a squeaky timbre at times. But the girl's disappointment is palpable each time her secret wishes do not come true. She finally tearfully admits her homesickness to her father. The father's voice is lower pitched and steady as he responds to his daughter's emotional needs. This charming father-daughter experience is meant to reassure young listeners that one can move on in the face of change. S.D.B. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: JUNE 2025]
