In Claudia Gray's fourth outing in the world of Austen, Billie Fulford-Brown's narration keeps everything wonderfully droll. Amateur detectives Jonathan Darcy and Juliet Tilney once again find themselves up to their necks in murder, this time during the height of the London Season. Jonathan has tender feelings for Juliet, but the Darcys don't approve. Fulford-Brown expertly portrays Jonathan's neurodivergent personality, making clear his difficulties when among people. She shows Juliet's sensitivity to Jonathan's needs as she helps him navigate demanding, often terrifying, situations. When a murder occurs, shortly followed by another, the two young people work together to investigate, their feelings for each other growing stronger each day. In a solution worthy of Hitchcock, the murders are solved, but the romance is on hold--at least until the next episode. S.J.H. © AudioFile 2025, Portland, Maine [Published: OCTOBER 2025]
