This legal thriller grips you from the beginning as narrator Andrew Eiden uses vocal volume as a way to shape the characters' voices. Jake West is an excellent, albeit alcoholic, lawyer with a marred reputation. When he finds himself accused of a killing, he must use his legal acumen to get out of the jam while also investigating a cover-up that may involve his father's firm. Eiden is great as the glib lawyer, and he smoothly shifts to a quiet, almost raspy voice for Jake's father and to a whiny tone for a nemesis. Supporting characters also are given specific intonations and ever-so-slight accents for differentiation. The thriller has the right touch of comedic dialogue, which Eiden delivers well.
