Narrator Andi Arndt transports listeners to Lake Tahoe as Lexi Clark returns home after years away. Lexi joins her stepsister, Ashley, and former classmate, Heath, who've been tasked with delivering envelopes to people who were wronged by Lexi's late mother, from whom she was estranged. A free spirit, Ashley is the more joyful of the sisters, while Lexi is more cautious. Arndt skillfully portrays the contrasting aspects of the sisters' personalities. She gives Ashley a light, bubbly tone. Lexi had been hurt in the past, and Arndt exudes her pain, giving her a weary-sounding quality.
