DEATH AT THE WHITE HART

Near a picturesque Dorset village, the corpse of a publican is found seated in a chair on an empty road with antlers glued to his head. This dramatic opening certainly captures the attention of listeners, who will be caught up in this police procedural by the creator of the television series "Broadchurch." Jessica Gunning, an actor familiar to many television viewers, narrates this mystery. Her husky voice introduces the many local inhabitants of the village, one of whom is a murderer. She skillfully reveals their secrets, fears, grudges, and possible motives for murder. The central figure, Chief Detective Nicola Bridge, is tough yet compassionate, quick-witted but thoughtful, and Gunning is the perfect narrator to portray her dogged pursuit of justice.
