This collection of interconnected short stories is a delight. Southern humorist and actress Fannie Flagg narrates her own work with a touch of whimsy. You can almost hear the sparkle in her eye as she portrays an assortment of characters all over the country throughout decades. Her pacing is pleasant and relaxed as she brings to life these snapshots of America. The stories feature interconnected characters; there are several about Velma, a great-grandmother living in her hometown in Kansas, and her great-granddaughter, who lives a very different life in California with her husband and daughter. As listeners enjoy a cross section of very different Americas, Flagg elicits laughs with her humorous observations of the human condition and her wry delivery.
